Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has confirmed his longstanding personal ties with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, while stressing that the two politicians now pursue different political objectives.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Igbo News, Soludo said the relationship extends beyond friendship to their families: Obi’s wife is godmother to Soludo’s daughter, while Soludo’s wife serves as godmother to Obi’s daughter.
He said their personal bond has remained intact despite the political divide, although he did not explain the reasons behind their differing visions for politics.
“We are very close friends, and our families are equally close. His wife is the godmother of my daughter, and my wife is the godmother of his daughter,” Soludo said. “However, politically, we do not share the same vision.”
