African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress over the turnout at the party’s campaign launch in Kaduna, arguing that the event was presented as broader public backing than it represented.
In a Saturday post on his verified X account, Sowore said the APC and Tinubu administration were seeking to portray a full stadium as evidence of support across Nigeria.
He said the Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna has a capacity of about 5,000 people and alleged that supporters had been brought in from different parts of the country to fill the venue.
“You gathered 5,000 people in Kaduna and described that as nationwide support?” Sowore said. “The APC and the Tinubu government want Nigerians to treat a ‘filled’ stadium as proof of national backing. Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna accommodates only 5,000 people, and even then, supporters were transported from across Nigeria to fill it.”
The human-rights activist added that, in his view, the crowd display would not change the outcome of the next presidential race.
“President Bola Tinubu will still lose the election in 2027,” Sowore said.
