The company, a major Nigerian cocoa exporter and contributor to non-oil exports, received regulatory clearance in March 2026 for the ₦200 billion funding programme. It issued Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 notes during the same month, drawing subscriptions of ₦165.73 billion against a combined initial target of ₦100 billion.
Sunbeth ultimately took up ₦150.4 billion across the three offerings, a result that pointed to strong demand from investors. The Series 1 repayment was completed as scheduled and on the notes’ maturity date.
Chief Executive Olasunkanmi Owoyemi said the payment demonstrated the company’s business strength, careful financial stewardship and the trust investors had placed in it. He said Sunbeth viewed consistent execution, openness and fulfilment of its promises as the basis of credibility, adding that these principles would remain central as the company expands throughout the agricultural value chain.
Chief Financial Officer Adeyemi Aduwo said the redemption reflected Sunbeth’s structured approach to managing funding and liquidity. The company, he said, would continue to use capital efficiently, maintain robust controls and ensure its financing arrangements support payments when they become due.
In fewer than 10 years, Sunbeth has become a sizeable participant in Nigeria’s agricultural export industry. It has shipped more than 200,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans and 60,000 metric tonnes of cashew nuts to overseas buyers, placing it among the country’s leading commodity exporters.
The business sources directly from more than 30,000 farmers and works with over 250 local buying agents across Nigeria. Its international strategic relationships include Cargill, GCB Group, JB Cocoa, Touton, Macquarie and StoneX, spanning multinational commodity and financial institutions.
Sunbeth has investment-grade assessments in both short- and long-term categories from DataPro, GCR, Agusto & Co. and Intelligence Africa. Each agency assigns the company an A2 short-term rating. Long-term ratings are A+ from DataPro, BBB+ from GCR, BBB from Agusto & Co. and BBB+ from Intelligence Africa, whose assessment carries a stable outlook.
The Commercial Paper Programme also falls under the disclosure and reporting framework of FMDQ Securities Exchange. That requirement gives investors and the wider market continuing information on Sunbeth’s financial condition and operating performance.
Sunbeth is expanding its procurement capabilities, reinforcing overseas relationships and moving further into higher-value areas of agriculture in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. Those efforts are supporting a growing operating presence in the region.
