Nigeria’s Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has begun emergency repairs on Towers J4 and N9 through N12 along the Ikot Abasi–Eket 132kV double-circuit transmission corridor after recent vandalism damaged the infrastructure.
Repairs begin after infrastructure damage
In a statement issued on Monday, TCN said rehabilitation activities had started at the affected towers as it works to restore and secure the transmission line.
Officials stress engineering standards and community protection
During an inspection of the site on Friday, September 25, 2026, Regional Manager Engr. Nasir Bello called for rigorous compliance with engineering requirements. Bello was represented during the visit by Ubani Raymond, Assistant General Manager for Transmission in TCN’s Port Harcourt Region.
- Residents of Ikot Abasi were asked to stay alert and help safeguard power assets in their communities.
- Communities were urged to prevent criminal groups from carrying out further attacks on critical electricity infrastructure.
Rain and difficult terrain slow fieldwork
Engr. Azuh Lucky, Head of Lines for the Port Harcourt Transmission Region, said the repair programme had been hindered by demanding terrain and continued rainfall.
