
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will shut down power supply in parts of Kogi, Edo and Ondo states on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, for scheduled work at the Ajaokuta transmission substation.

TCN said its yearly preventive-maintenance programme will temporarily stop the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) from serving customers in parts of the three states.
The transmission operator said its technicians will inspect and maintain the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, along with connected switchgear and ancillary equipment at the facility.
Customers in Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and nearby communities are expected to be affected.
Other locations listed by TCN include Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara and Oka, as well as surrounding areas.
In its notice, TCN said the planned annual preventive maintenance at the 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation would run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 15. Electricity supply to the affected areas will be unavailable during the exercise.
