Ahmed Bala, director-general of Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), has urged residents of Nigeria’s South-South region to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, arguing that the administration’s record on infrastructure, economic policy, energy security and Niger Delta development merits support.
Key takeaways
- Bala made the appeal at a presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on November 7, 2026.
- He described the South-South as central to national oil revenue, energy supplies, maritime trade and industrial expansion.
- RTIFN says youth engagement in enterprise, innovation, farming and skills training is essential to Nigeria’s economic progress.
- The group is affiliated with the City Boy Movement, founded by Barrister Seyi Tinubu.
- The Port Harcourt event reflects intensifying political organisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
Development agenda for the Niger Delta
Speaking to journalists during the Port Harcourt gathering, Bala addressed political figures, youth representatives and supporters assembled to build momentum for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign.
He said the South-South holds an indispensable place in Nigeria’s economy because of its contribution to federal income, petroleum output, shipping activity and industrial development. The region, he said, should therefore receive sustained attention within the country’s broader development plans.
Bala pointed to federal spending and policy efforts in roads, transport, power, environmental remediation and diversification of the economy. He said those initiatives were intended to tackle development problems that have persisted across the Niger Delta for years.
He argued that the government’s economic reforms should be judged beyond the short-term pressure they may create. In his view, their longer-range objective is to raise productive capacity, draw private capital, upgrade infrastructure and provide durable economic prospects for coming generations.
The South-South, Bala said, is entitled to visible improvements in development outcomes, better standards of living, wider access to economic opportunity and a more influential role in shaping Nigeria’s national agenda.
He also stressed the region’s importance to plans to lift crude-oil production, reinforce energy security, increase public revenues and encourage investment in the oil and gas industry. Continued focus on infrastructure, environmental challenges, industrialisation and investable projects could place the Niger Delta on a stronger path toward prosperity, he said.
Youth mobilisation and the 2027 campaign
Bala said RTIFN’s mandate goes beyond electioneering. The organisation is seeking to encourage younger Nigerians to pursue entrepreneurship, innovation, agriculture, vocational training and other productive activities, he said.
Nigeria’s transformation cannot be delivered by the state alone, Bala added. He said citizens must participate actively, particularly young people whose drive, ideas and business potential are vital to national economic advancement.
On the 2027 contest, he called for an assessment of Tinubu’s administration based on development outcomes, including its reform programme, projects under way and longer-term economic targets. He urged political leaders and South-South residents to support measures they believe can generate enduring development and to remain involved in national political debate.
RTIFN is a sister organisation of the City Boy Movement and operates under the leadership of its Founder-in-Chief, Barrister Seyi Tinubu. Both groups promote public understanding of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, seek greater youth involvement in national development and mobilise backing for government policies and programmes.
Under Bala’s leadership, RTIFN has conducted engagement across Nigeria’s geopolitical regions, focusing on economic reform, infrastructure, youth empowerment and citizens’ shared duty in creating a more prosperous country.
The Port Harcourt rally is part of expanding political activity in the run-up to the 2027 general elections, with the South-South becoming a significant battleground for support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
