VeryDarkMan Says He Helped Save GehGeh’s Online Platform

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has accused financial commentator GehGeh of failing to recognise support he received during a public dispute involving his sister, Precious.

VeryDarkMan said he helped preserve GehGeh’s online platform after public opinion in Nigeria turned against the commentator. The activist made the remarks in a social-media response to allegations that he was trying to undermine GehGeh.

Quick facts

  • VeryDarkMan said he and music promoter Tunde Ednut supported GehGeh during a backlash.
  • He said he offered advice that helped shift the public narrative in GehGeh’s favour.
  • He alleged GehGeh never thanked him for the intervention.
  • Precious said GehGeh had not paid her the 5 million naira he was said to have promised.

The activist said the backlash could have ended GehGeh’s platform without his involvement. He said Tunde Ednut was the only other person who stood with GehGeh at the time.

“Without me una for pull Gehgeh down. I saved his platform, I saved him. Social media turned against him; only one person stood by him, or let’s say two because Tunde Ednut helped him,” VeryDarkMan wrote.

He added that he advised GehGeh on managing the controversy and said that approach changed the direction of public discussion. However, he claimed GehGeh did not return to acknowledge or thank him after the situation improved.

“After he did everything, I told him and the narrative changed to his favour, he never came back to say thank you,” he said.

VeryDarkMan also accused GehGeh of encouraging the suggestion that he intended to destroy the commentator. He argued that GehGeh owed him credit for helping to shield his digital platform from the backlash.

“You wey them don finish already. That clown owes me his platform,” he wrote.

In the latest dispute, GehGeh’s sister, Precious, appealed directly to VeryDarkMan for assistance. She said GehGeh had not delivered the 5 million naira payment that VeryDarkMan had instructed him to give her.

“Uncle VeryDarkMan, my helper, GehGeh did not give me the 5 million naira you told him to give me. All he did was audio. Please VeryDarkMan, help me remind him to fulfil the promise. I still need help,” Precious said.

She maintained that the money had only been promised verbally and that no payment had been made.
