Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has responded publicly after missing out on the 2026 Ballon d’Or, using an Instagram message to signal confidence that the sport’s top individual award remains within reach.
Yamal Addresses Ballon d’Or Result
The Spain international finished third in Monday night’s Ballon d’Or voting in London, behind winner Harry Kane, England’s captain, and France skipper Kylian Mbappé.
In his social-media post, Yamal struck a composed but determined tone, telling fans that the result had not changed his expectations for his future.
- “It will come; good things take time,” Yamal wrote.
- He said he trusted the career path he is building.
- The Barcelona player added: “My time will come.”
Recognition for Kane and Yamal’s Season
Yamal also offered congratulations to Kane after the England captain secured the Ballon d’Or.
Despite falling short in the main award, the 19-year-old collected the Kopa Trophy, an honour recognising the leading young player. His recent achievements also include winning the 2026 World Cup and helping Barcelona claim last season’s LaLiga title.
