Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has voiced confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure another term in Nigeria’s 2027 election.
Speaking in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where he joined Tinubu and other Nigerians for Umrah, or the lesser pilgrimage, Yari said the faith that underpinned Tinubu’s 2023 presidential victory would also support his bid for re-election.
- Tinubu won Nigeria’s presidential election in 2023.
- During a media engagement in Saudi Arabia on Friday, the president said he was relying on God for a second term in office.
- Yari subsequently said Tinubu’s confidence in God, together with his record in office, would help deliver victory in January 2027.
Yari also commended the president for offering prayers for Nigeria and its people during the pilgrimage, calling this an indication of genuine leadership.
“That is what defines a leader,” Yari said. “He prayed first for the country and for all Nigerians, while recognising that God chooses leaders.”
He added that the same divine support he believes helped Tinubu prevail in 2023 would be available again in 2027, saying the president was placing his trust in Allah as he had done during the previous election.
