Zamfara State had 2,265,175 registered voters as of August 2026, representing a 16.04% rise from the 1,952,060 voters on the roll for the 2023 general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission said.
Mahmuda Isah, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Zamfara, announced the figures in Gusau at a meeting with stakeholders focused on preparations for the 2027 general elections and the collection of Permanent Voter Cards.
The updated register reflects 313,115 new voter registrations. Isah said the increase underscored the importance of strong voter mobilisation efforts and broader public awareness campaigns.
He said the electoral register would be subjected to verification and validation under electoral legislation and approved procedures, with the aim of protecting the accuracy and integrity of the voter database.
Collection of Permanent Voter Cards will remain available at INEC offices in each of Zamfara’s 14 local government areas after the completion of collection exercises at ward level.
Isah called on voters who are registered but have not yet obtained their cards to go in person to the INEC office in their respective local government area to collect them.
