South Africa’s youth have spoken – 5FM is the coolest radio station in the country for the seventh year in a row. 5FM walked away with the coveted Coolest Radio Station award at the 2012 Sunday Times Generation Next youth brand survey, which polled over 5,500 young South Africans aged 8 to 22 across several cities and townships in seven provinces.

It’s been a big year for 5FM, which won top honours – Commercial Station Of The Year – at the recent MTN Radio Awards as well as being nominated as one of the Most Influential International Stations at the Worldwide Radio Summit, which was held in Los Angeles last month.

Says 5FM’s station manager Aisha Mohamed, “This has been the most amazing year for 5FM. Our station has seen some of the highest listenership figures to date and to receive so much recognition both internationally and at home has left us feeling humbled and excited.  A huge thank you to our family of 5FM listeners.”
