Three men, including Kaizer Chiefs’ GM Bobby Motaung, will line up in the dock today, facing charges of corruption relating to the construction of Mpumalanga’s World Cup Stadium.
The Hawks Unit says two men were arrested yesterday in connection with irregularities in the tendering process.
“We can confirm that the third suspect handed himself over to our members in Nelspruit last night, and as a result of that we have all three people secured and all three of them are appearing in court this morning,” he said.
The Unit’s McIntosh Polela wouldn’t confirm that Motaung is among those in custody – however his arrest has been widely reported.
His name has been trending on Twitter since late yesterday when the arrests took place.
A company Motaung has interests in is alleged to have forged SARS documents to secure the tender.
