DJ Euphonik featured as the defendant in two different courtrooms on Tuesday, as his spat with former girlfriend and YFM DJ Bonang Matheba (pictured) continues.
The 5FM jock made an appearance at both the Randburg Magistrates’ criminal and domestic violence court to answer fresh allegations, made by Matheba, that he attacked her and damaged her property during an altercation at her home in Hyde Park, Joburg.
Euphonik, whose real name is Themba Nkosi, was taken into custody by the police on June 6, following an incident in which he allegedly kicked out a window in order to gain access to his ex’s apartment. Yesterday, Matheba came to court with the interim protection order granted her on May 30.
Apparently, the DJ trailed Matheba back to her apartment before begging to be admitted. When she refused, he supposedly broke the window, entered the flat, smashed a laptop and assaulted her. Matheba claims to have sustained injuries to both her eye and lip.
Nkosi was not asked to plead to the charges – which include housebreaking, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property – yesterday. Prosecutor Fikile Hlabangani put it on record that the investigations were still ongoing, with statements from key witnesses yet to be collected.
Euphonik’s R3000 bail was extended and he was ordered to appear in the violence court again on July 24th. He then made his way upstairs, to appear before magistrate Benny Lechoba in the domestic violence court, where Matheba and her lawyers were waiting.
