Africa’s biggest and best mixed martial arts show is back in just under two weeks! On Friday 27 July, Carnival City will erupt with excitement as EFC AFRICA 15 pits the continent’s finest warriors against each other across 13 hard-hitting bouts.
In the light heavyweight division, Norman ‘Chef’ Wessels and JP Joubert will contest the vacant EFC AFRICA title. Wessels, a former heavyweight champion, has been on a rampage since losing the title at EFC AFRICA 09. After training with some of the world’s best MMA athletes in Canada at the end of 2011, Wessels made the decision to move to light heavyweight. With an extremely explosive and impressive win at EFC AFRICA 13, Wessels has proven himself a serious threat to the title. JP Joubert had mixed fortune at heavyweight in his first few bouts at EFC AFRICA but this powerful kickboxer has found his feet in the light heavyweight division. Strong strikes and a gritty fighting style make him a tough contender!
At middleweight, former champion Garreth ‘Soldierboy’ McLellan takes on rising force Armand De Bruyn. Besides judo and submission wrestling, De Bruyn has displayed a formidable array of strikes, making him an all-round threat and a hot prospect in the division. He has racked up three wins in a row and wants a fourth! McLellan is on the warpath to reclaim the title and knows that with a win over De Bruyn he will move a step closer to his goal.
At light heavyweight, Nigerian taekwondo exponent Raymond Ahana hopes to score another highlight reel head kick finish when he takes on Jason Culverwell. However, Culverwell is a competent kickboxer and proved his ground skills with a keylock submission victory at his pro debut at EFC AFRICA 13.
Don’t miss these plus another 10 bouts live from Carnival City!
