UK Heavy Metal/Rock Band Enter Shikari have been signed on to perform at Oppikoppi’s upcoming Sweet\Thing festival.
The band, who are described as fusing hardcore rock elements with a more electronic sound (that takes in dubstep, drum and bass and trance), will showcase tracks from their latest album A Flash Flood Of Colour, which was released in January of this year.
The groove heavy tunes will appeal to fans looking to dance like maniacs at the South African music festival.
According to TimesLIVE, the festival organisers view the band as a perfect fit for the event.
“It’s an urgent state-of-the-world address, an impassioned call to arms, an empowering liberation transmission aimed at the head, heart and hips. It’s an album about community, about love and friendship, about self-determination and self-respect. We think this is a nice fit for or OppiKoppi tune zealots!” said the Oppikoppi organisers.
The band’s vocalist, Rou Reynolds, said their music was a call to arms in a world on the brink of ruin.
“We are the generation that are going to change the world. We have more power than any generation that has come before us. We have the power to choose whether we continue as a species and prosper or just literally ruin everything.
“We’re already seeing the signs of the collapse of our world and it’s got to that point now where we absolutely have to start changing. Or it’s game over,” he warned.
Oppikoppi Sweet\Thing will kick off on the 9th of August and run for three days on a farm in Northam, Limpopo.
