Anyone harbouring secret dreams of appearing on “Muvhango” might have their chance this week.
The show, a drama that prides itself on upholding cultural values, is holding auditions on March 24 at Bassline in Johannesburg for a Zulu- or Sesotho-speaking male between the ages of 26 and 32, as well as for a woman in her 40s who is fluent in Tshivenda and English and a 17- to -18-year-old woman who must have a model C accent and be fluent in isiZulu and Tshivenda.
The show has, however, urged those who’d like to audition to remember that the storyline is character-driven, and won’t feature “waltzing around town like a celebrity”, according to SowetanLive.
This is because the drama aims to teach South Africans to value their culture, know their roots and not be ashamed of whom they are. It was also the first television drama to communicate in Tshivenda, which is a marginalised language.
The story had some shaky beginnings, but “Muvhango” has blossomed, while also spawning the careers of many inexperienced actors, who are now professional and highly sought-after.
The auditions take place from 8am to 10am.
well that is easy i dont have to audition am good even my God knows.am just joking i would like to wish good luck to people who r going to audition.
I am very dissapointed that IsiNdebele is not fetured anywhere in this drama and I think our language can form a good combination with Tshivenda.
Now, as a Ndebele speaking how are we also allowed to attend such auditions even if we are not invited.
Thank you.
