Top cricketer and our current Proteas captain Graeme Smith has welcomed a new life into the world: his daughter!
Cadence Christine Smith was born this morning at a healthy 3.35 kilograms. Smith tweeted the news, reporting that both the baby and mother, his wife Morgan, are healthy and happy.
“The lovely girl weighs 3.35 kg!! Both mother and daughter doing well,” he reported on the couple’s Facebook page, while also spreading the news on Twitter, thanking well-wishers. Smith recently returned from England, where the Proteas gave that country’s team a record-breaking walloping during their latest test series.
“We can’t wait to meet our baby and become parents,” Morgan told IOL.co.za earlier this year. She also discussed the couple’s previous attempt at having a child, which sadly ended in a miscarriage. This time, though, things worked out.
Smith is due back in England for the second test against the English Roses, which starts on 30 July.
Congratulations can be sent on Twitter to @GraemeSmith49 or posted on the couple’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Graeme-Smith-and-Morgan-Smith/
