“Keep your clothes on” are the instructions from TV network CBS to guests attending the 55th annual Grammy awards in Los Angeles.
According to showbiz reports the network sent out a message to all guests to ensure that “buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered”.
The detailed instructions did not stop there either: “Thong-type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare, fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic.”
The awards are notorious for attracting dare-devil-dressers. Jennifer Lopez wore a flowing greenVersace dress at the 42nd Grammy Awards with a plunging neckline that tickled her bellybutton.
Toni Braxton pulled out all the stitches at the 43rd Grammy Awards in 2001. Her infamous white dress covered the “essential” areas but exposed almost everything else.
The plan this year is to try and prevent panicked parents from switching the channel by reminding guests and their representatives of what is ‘socially acceptable’.
In 2004 CBS escaped a hefty fine after broadcasting Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson performing at the Super Bowl. Viewers were treated to a peek of Janet’s nipple ring when Justin yanked at Janet’s bustier.
Nominees this year include stars that pride themselves on making statements through their clothing. Both Katy Perry and Rihanna have been nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance while LMFAO will be wiggling all the way to the stage if they win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
The royalty of music events will be presented by Beyonce’, Hunter Hayes, Jennifer Lopez, Pauley Perrette and Prince. LL COOL J will host the awards.
