‘Hotstix’ lands new role

September 23rd, 2011

Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse has been named as the Tourism Ambassador of Gauteng.

The musician is highly popular within the province and was the perfect choice for the position.

Mabuse is delighted to have landed the role and is ready to raise the profile of Gauteng, getting rid of any negative perceptions in the process.

“I am part of the AmaGeePee campaign,” ‘Hotstix’ told The Sowetan.

“My responsibility is to raise the profile of Gauteng as a tourist destination. So I have been hard at work talking to people and, where it exists, defusing as much negativity as possible.

“By the end of the conversation people usually agree with me about the virtues of the province.

“Another thing that has helped, is identifying places of tourism value. That is why I am using my favourite newspaper as a vehicle to pass on the message that Gauteng is the place to be.

“And as a musician I can also use that platform to write a song that will tell the story through choice, well-thought-out lyrics that entertain but at the same time sensitises.”
