Idols contestant Dominic Neill’s run of near-misses finally came to an end last night when he was the 4th contestant voted off during the Idols Season 8 Results Show.
For the past three weeks, Dominic found himself in the bottom three, and last week, he scraped through to the top 7 by a mere 36 votes!
Last night’s show was opened by the Graeme Watkins Project who were accompanied by the ethereal voices of the Drakensburg Boys Choir. The choir also accompanied the Top 7 Spectacular on Sunday night.
Moreover, the Top 7 Idols were mentored last week by South African superstar Lira, who correctly predicted that Dominic would leave the show last night because he “lost his sense of control and magic” during his performance of Coldplay’s “Paradise” on Sunday evening.
After host ProVerb called Melissa, Simphiwe and Monde to the stage, he asked Idols judge Randall Abrahams to predict which one of them was not in the bottom three. Randall put his money on Simphiwe, but for once, he was incorrect! In a shock surprise, Melissa and Simphiwe joined Dominic in the bottom three, leaving Monde safely in the Top 6.
The Top 6 Idols have a busy weekend ahead of them. On Saturday, 1 September, they will be signing autographs at the Mzansi Magic Market Day at the Cresta Shopping Centre, followed by an appearance at 94.7’s Jo’burg Day! On Sunday evening after the show, the Top 6 will be at Sandton Square in Johannesburg to meet fans!
This week’s Top 6 Spectacular will be recorded at the Home Of Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro, on Friday, 31 August, and broadcast on M-Net, M-Net HD and Mzansi Magic at 17:30 on Sunday, 26 August.
Tickets are available from Computicket.
