It would appear that her hectic public life has taken its toll on celebrity and jetsetter Jeannie D’s engagement. The Top Billing presenter revealed on Saturday that she and longtime partner Jon Firth are no longer due to be married. The couple were originally engaged in March last year, but the magical day would never arrive.

“People always said to me, “Oh, when you meet the right one, you’ll know,” she said during the eTV program The Close Up. “That … it’s not that simple. You don’t. It is difficult to have a relationship in the public eye.”

In January Timeslive revealed that the couple were having problems planning a wedding around their intense schedules. The local beauty and Firth, a British businessman with interests in several clubs and sports bars, would often find themselves on different sides of the world for weeks at a time. Jeannie D’s own travel schedule is notorious and glamorous, often seeing her spend only a day or two at home before flying off to interview a celebrity or experience luxuries associated with her job. This all got in the way of planning the wedding.

“It’s definitely not an easy task … there’s the dress and I have absolutely no concept of what I want,” she told TimesLive earlier this year. “It turns out that planning a wedding isn’t an easy task, especially when you travel for a living.”
