One of the big five national cultural tourism events, the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (Macufe), took place this past weekend in Bloemfontein.
Macufe is an extravaganza of Africa’s best music, dance, drama, cabaret, musical theatre, poetry, fine art and traditional arts and crafts.
The biggest attraction is the main outdoor music event.
This year’s line-up included musicians such as Randy Crawford and local artist Letta Mbulu.
The first Macufe took place in 1997, and had an audience of 30,000. The number has increased to over 140,000 attendees.
