The Parlotones’ live 3D international broadcast last month has impressed the viewing public and is seen as a major success.
The concert was broadcast in 3D around the world from the The Teatro at Montecasino and director Eban Olivier has revealed his delight at the final product.
“This was the first time that I directed a theatre production that took on a music video approach,” the director told Screen Africa.
“Halfway through the run I reminded myself that this was actually a 3D experience that we designed for theatre as well.
“The Parlotones were on top form, as was the crew. All the 3D equipment behaved and it was clear that we had made the right decision to go with the Pro Ultra rigs and Alfacam’s OB30.”
The gig was the first ever by a South African to be broadcast on Facebook and was the first live global broadcast by any band in 3D format.
