The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are expected to arrive in South Africa on Wednesday for an official five-day visit at the personal invitation of President Jacob Zuma.

Prince Charles and Camilla were due to touch down at the Waterkloof airbase in Pretoria in the early evening, where they would walk down the aircraft stairs and through a Guard of Honour.

The pair would visit Pretoria, Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town before jetting off to Tanzania on November 6.

The last time the Prince of Wales was in South Africa on an official visit was 1997 with Prince Harry. This will be the Duchess of Cornwall’s first official visit to South Africa.

Last week, the British High Commission said the visit would focus on trade and investment promotion to support Britain’s economic recovery, employment opportunities, education and practical support for disadvantaged young people.

It would also focus on the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF’s) work to protect endangered species and fragile ecosystems.

Prince Charles recently became the president of WWF UK.

The pair would also visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation to view the legacy of the country’s first democratic president.

  5. Great! we need to be working with 1st world countries, as any interaction with established western countries could maybe help our leaders understand that they should not rob-us-blind and that being in power means serving the people and not over taxing and stealing from the people!

  6. Another arms deal in the pipeline…?

  7. TRUE, so true.

  8. Well !

Their visit will surely help our degenerated , embryo stage government to catch a wake up. Remember it was the western civilization and influence that impacted imensly on our country. The problem here in Africa is that our people want to accept the western way of life but reject the very western people who gave them a lot to think about. Both economically and socially the western countries had a lot to contribute to the whole of Africa. Saying that Africa is ours will not help at all. But allowing western influence can improve situations in Africa.

  9. So what if they come. It just brings back memories that I still prefer Princess Diana.
