East Coast Radio DJ Ramona Kasavan is counting down the days to her wedding this weekend! We caught up with the vivacious beauty to find out how she’s dealing with those jangled nerves.
How long have you and Krisendra known each other?
Three years.
How did you meet?
My parents were doing some business with Kris and I was on site at the time. Two years before that, Kris had pushed me off the road to make a statement and I went home and asked my dad whose van it was, and he said it belonged to Kris.
Was it love at first sight or did love grow gradually?
Well, the day we met lead to confrontation with me telling my mum that this was the man who pushed me off the road. Far from love at first sight, more like ‘the nerve of this man!’ He has denied it until this day … It did grow gradually.
How stressed are you right now?
Gosh, I would say four out of 10. I’m experiencing a million emotions. I come from a loving family and detachment issues are strong right now. I’m also excited – as a retired feminist I have waited long for this day and for someone to share the adventure of life with.
Have you taken charge of the wedding plans or have you got someone to help?
I am fortunate as I have a caterer mum who has been in the business for 10 years. She has made everything a priority at the wedding, ensuring that it is every little girl’s fantasy – so I am deeply indebted to her for that.
Every bride has an irrational fear or two concerning her wedding day. What’s yours?
Nothing really. Maybe time and the photo shoot, or the length of the ceremony.
Are you going into the marriage with any expectations?
Not at all, Kris is the most amazing partner. We have had a long distance relationship and we both live life with such adventure so I’m pretty excited about that.
Are you on a health kick ahead of the wedding? If so, details…
Gosh, I have been trying to and now I just accept that I am big and bold.
How do you envisage your big day panning out?
Beautifully.
Where did you get your bridal outfit from?
India.
Advice to other brides to be….
Enjoy the moment. I read that “when I met you, I fell in love with my own life.”
Will you change your name onair?
No. Kasavan is my birth-right and my strength of my identity. It belongs to my younger brother who is my perseverance in life; but my surname will change.
Catch Ramona on ECR on The Lounge from 5pm to 9pm over weekends.
