“Forerunners” is director Simon Wood’s debut documentary feature, and it’s already made headway at the Cannes Pan African International Film Festival by winning the Di-kalo Jury Award.
The film was praised for its writing, its filming and its outlook on “a category of people that are searching for perspective”. The film’s story revolves around four black middle-class South Africans who are making their future with the choices they make on a daily basis.
The director is pleased with the positive reaction the film has received, and after such a positive international reaction, he is looking forward to the film’s premier in South Africa at the Encounters International Documentary Film Festival in Cape Town and Johannesburg in June.
The film has also been chosen to feature at the Durban International Film Festival.
