Helene Bester (36) is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at a Johannesburg hospital. According to her husband, Jacques Theron, she is in a stable condition and being monitored.

Helene was diagnosed with a blood clot in her leg, groin and a life-threatening  clot in the lung (this is common amongst pregnant women) about three weeks ago according to her sister, Nadia Joubert.

“The treatment resulted in complications that caused internal abdominal bleeding.  An emergency cesarean section was done on Sunday, but her unborn baby girl sadly didn’t make it. Helene was 33 weeks along and the baby already weighed 2,5kg,” said Lydia Winchester, a music promoter.
