Mzansi Magic’s new reality show, Clash of the Choirs SA makes its way to Bloemfontein (Mangaung) this weekend for its fifth leg of auditions.
Thembi Seete, the multi-talented Kwaito star best known as one of the members of the kwaito super-group, Boom Shaka has been assigned as the Choir Master for the Free State province.
Singers in the “City Of Roses” are invited to audition for Clash of the Choirs on Saturday, 8 December and Sunday, 9 December at President Hotel, 1 Union Avenue, Bloemfontein, 08:00 – 18:00.
If you believe you have the voice, a good ear for melodies and can blend in a harmony, Thembi will be out searching for her twenty best voices to form her choir that will represent the Free State.
The competition is bound to be tough as four Choir Masters in other provinces have assembled their choirs, are confident in their chosen talent and are ready to battle it out for the R500 000 grand prize which will be split into two portions (R250 000 for a charity and R250 000 for the choir).
To prepare for a hot spot in Thembi’s choir, singers and choirs can prepare a performance that will best showcase their voices in a choral format. Contestants have an option to sing different genres of music. Be it a local top charting Pop, Afro-Soul, RnB or Kwaito hit.
“I’m so excited to be part of Clash Of The Choirs SA. I can’t wait to hear the talent that’s out there. I love music, people and arts itself. I know I’m going to learn a lot and have fun while searching for the best choir to represent the Free State,” says Seete.
Registration ends at 18:00, so contestants should get to the auditions as early as possible to avoid disappointment. You can download audition forms and pre-register at www.mzansimagic.tv to speed up the process on the day of auditions. Contestants must be 18 years or older.
