Loud, cutting-edge star, Toya DeLazy, has conquered the SA music scene. Now it’s time to spread her wings. Speaking to East Coast Radio’s Anisa Ussuph, the Pump It On singer says, “The plan is to expand. So I’ll be going to different countries abroad and within Africa, performing and trying to make something out of it. People are responding to my music!”
The artist, who grew up in Durban, says the hardest part of being a performer is the fact she can’t get sick. “You also have to always keep yourself inspired and never lose track of your vision and goals.”
Toya’s also revealed that her hit Pump It On was written at a very challenging time in her life when he was struggling to get through varsity. “I still had this passion for music and it was misunderstood. So that’s when I wrote the song. I felt that I needed to empower myself and just spread a positive message because I was sick of being down all the time. So that’s how Pump It On came along.”
