Social media has ‘killed’ R ‘n B superstar and actor Usher (Usher Raymond) for the second time this year.
Rumours of the death of the star in a car crash began circulating online on Monday morning (25.06.12).
Messages have been spreading via BBM, SMS, Twitter and Facebook.
It seems that the website ‘Celebrity fake news hoax generator’, which has the pay-off line ‘fakeawish.com – punking mass media since 2002′, is again the originator of the hoax.
On the site, people can type in a celebrity’s name and create a fake story about their death.
In April, the site ran exactly the same story about Usher’s supposed demise.
The story reads: “Usher died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident – June 25, 2012″
Yesterday, Usher posted the photo below to his Facebook page, commenting: “The secret to a good BBQ is good music!”
