Here’s the music video for Dineo Ranaka’s new single, “Surive”.

Shot over two days on a beautiful private property east of Pretoria, the shoot took place inside an ultra-modern minimalist apartment looking out over a beautiful garden and oats field.

It’s also got some really intense scenes (we’re talking domestic abuse) between Dineo and the video’s leading man played by Brighton Ngoma. By the way, you might recognise Brighton from the e.tv soapie, Scandal.

Speaking to the video’s director, Werner Prinsloo of nineteen86.co.za , we uncover the message behind the concept.

“With Didi being preggers and all we decided to make it work for the video as opposed to hiding the baby bump (there was no waiting till after the pregnancy). Dineo wanted to send out a message as opposed to just putting out a video with random pool scenes.

“We focused on abuse in relationships as a general theme, showing that anyone can find themselves in an abusive relationship. What matters is how you choose to pick yourself up and survive – on your own. We all are strong enough, we just need to reach within and find what makes us a survivor.”
