Throughout her TV career, Oprah Winfrey has been very vocal about the power of intention. In a lot of her interviews, the media mogul has stressed just how setting intentions has positively impacted her career.
It seems that Mama O is not the only person who believes in intention. DJ Zinhle, who has a three-year-old daughter with rapper AKA, has spoken about how big she and the musician make co-parenting work. The secret? Intention.
"I think the biggest thing is communication, really... My biggest thing that I communicate to Kiernan all the time is good intentions," she said in interview with Afternoon Express on Tuesday afternoon.
"We both have to have good intentions about whatever we're having a conversation about at the time, so that at the end we both know whether it was not received the way that we wanted it to be received, whether someone found it offensive... it was brought forward in an uncomfortable way, but we know the intention was good."
She said they're "big" on intention, and added: "We both just want her to have an easy and comfortable life."
Zinhle also explained that they have put aside their personal things just to make sure that Kairo's stuff works out. "And I think we're doing very well," she said on the show.
This is not the first the DJ and businesswoman has opened up about co-parenting. In an interview with Sowetan a few months ago, Zinhle mentioned that she and AKA are in a good space in their lives.
"He’s very supportive and a good dad. We are different. He’s stricter than I am and I think Kairo enjoys the dynamic. Good co-parenting comes from a good relationship and it’s just about putting all your other differences aside and focusing on the child," she told the publication.
