South African football legend, Benni McCarthy recently opened up to The Juice about his hosting job on the reality show 'Goal Diggerz'.
The show aims to give viewers an all access pass into the off the pitch lives of famous footballers the world over.
McCarthy revealed that he had always been "interested" in the lives of footballers and "loved" the idea.
He explained that many footballers and clubs didn't want to be featured.
"It's strange cause a lot of clubs didn't want their players involved in the show and not a lot of players want people in their private space. It was a challenge, but they know me and trust me which helped a lot."
McCarthy added that he wanted to showcase that footballers are "nothing like" they are imagined to be.
"I want fans to realise that footballers are nothing like you imagine them to be. Just because you see them on TV doesn't mean you know everything about them.
The stereotypical view of them being arrogant is untrue, they are normal people. On the show, you'll see a softer side of your favourite footballers and realise they are nice people once you understand them. The show has a more personal tone which will help you understand the backgrounds many of these footballers come from and beat to be where they are today," he explained.
'Goal Diggerz' airs on Wednesday at 19:30 on Vuzu, channel 116 on DStv.
