South African popular rapper, Cassper Nyovest is on the news again, and no he is not securing the bag in a form of a plump endorsement deal. The North West born star is currently being dragged by the South African Revenue Services(SARS) in regards to an exorbitant amount of money that is owed by Cassper Nyovest.

According to Sunday World, the Mama I Made It hitmaker's company, Family Tree Media has been taken to the cleaners as it has accumulated a whopping 3,6 million rands in unpaid income tax. In a letter seen by the publication, it was stated that the amount had increased from 3 million to 3,6 million rands after the penalties and interests had been added by SARS. The article also reported that, failure to co-operate, SARS will then obtain a warrant of execution which will serve as a threat, in order to seize the company's assets and sell them in order to raise the owed amount.

The South Gauteng High Court issued out a letter of demand to the Family Tree Headquarters, stating that in exactly ten days, a full payment has to be made to SARS.

Upon contacting SARS spokesperson, Sandile Memela said the following to the publication:

''As you may be aware, SARS is not in a position to divulge specific information and details on the affairs of taxpayers. SARS is bound by Chapter 6 of the Tax Administration Act, 2011, dealing with confidentiality of information, and more specifically section 69 of the act, which provides for the secrecy of taxpayer information. This includes investigations into taxpayers or traders.''

Cassper Nyovest's isn't the only local celebrity that has had a run in with the taxman. Last year it was widely reported that our very own Bonang Matheba was involved in a tax scandal. Allegedly the star had failed to submit her full tax returns. The matter was later settled out at the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crime Court.

Another well known media personality is all round entertainer, Somizi Mhlongo. Reports were rife when it was revealed that he owed an amount of 2,5 million rands to the South African Revenue Services(SARS). The repo man were sent to Somgaga's home to seize assets which include, 15 Louis Vuitton bags, a crocodile skin couch, 83 pairs of shades and other expensive assets.

With Cassper publicly flashing his luxurious lifestyle on his Instagram, adding to that, a 11 million rand mansion to his name, surely clearing off this tax matter will be not much of a hassle.
