Followers of the gold medalist feel that Caster also deserves a sports car.
There's never a dull day in South Africa, just days after Wayde Van Niekerk was presented with a brand new Audi R8, South African's congratulated him but quickly went to question whether Caster Semenya would also be gifted with a brand new sports car?
Which a valid question, considering that she also won a gold medal at the Olympics.
You should be asking yourself why after so much success Caster is not their ambassador https://t.co/7910P2Zwoz— Khutšo ® (@khutso) September 9, 2016
@BMW_SA Babes, time for that M5 for Caster Semenya. Yes, you can do it babes. Support our athletes just as we support you.— Agent Provocateur (@De_Imperial) September 9, 2016
#LRT If Caster Semenya wasn't God she'd be a tweleb. Monster Clapbacks and Meme Game on fleek.— Nyakallo Lephoto (@NyakalloLephoto) September 9, 2016
Since the question was posed, there has been an ongoing debate on social media about why Caster Semenya hasn't received a car for her win.
Even BMW is involved in the debate and has expressed that they've been working on a potential partnership with Caster Semenya since the end of August.
@masemolaHarold We've been in touch with Caster's agent since end Aug regarding a potential partnership.— BMW South Africa (@BMW_SA) September 9, 2016
However, there's one particular tweet that gave us a change of thought with regards to this entire debate.
The thing about endorsements is that you sometimes have to pursue them and they must be a brand match. #Caster might not be interested here.— ♛Bongani Mabuza (@bonganimabuzaSA) September 9, 2016
Maybe Bongani is right, Caster might not be interested in getting a brand new set of wheels and is probably focusing her energy on other endorsement brands.
What are your thoughts?
