And with a lot of information and fake news posted on social media, death rumours can easily spread and get picked up by friends and family of the supposedly deceased person which can cause a lot of confusion and hurt.

In the wake of the fake news about Israel's passing, we compiled up a list of other celebrities who were killed off by social media.

Trevor Gumbi

In 2017 it was rumoured that Trevor Gumbi had passed on after the news of his fake death appeared on social media then reported on.

Trevor Gumbi denounced those rumours and gave the reports a few choice words.

What's unfortunate is that the rumours had even reached his mother.

Black Coffee

Then in 2016, Black Coffee was also said to have passed away, reports read that the international star was found dead in a hotel room in Spain.

He of course rubbished those terrible rumours.

Lelethi Khumalo

Leleti Khumalo also became the victim of a death hoax in 2016, the news spread like wildfire on social media, but the Uzalo Twitter page saved the day and rubbished the death rumours.

When people eventually found out that it was a hoax, they dragged everyone and their mama.

DJ Sbu

In December 2017 it was also rumoured that DJ Sbu had left us and with all the deaths that occur in December we were also very concerned.

Thankfully DJ Sbu confirmed that he was alive and well and that the death rumours had actually given him an idea to start his own funeral/medical cover.
