Rhythm City actress, Connie Chiune spoke to Move! Magazine about her initial move from theatre to television when she started out.

“When TV started in South Africa there were a few drama series which offered black actors jobs, I moved, naturally to TV,” she explained.

She added that even though she never trained as an actress, making sure she is good at her job and refines her skills are important to her.

“Perfecting my craft always comes first. I don’t want to be judged on what I look like. I want to be known for being good at the job I do. I didn’t train in acting because I didn’t have the opportunity. But what I’m working with is passion and my God given talent,” she told the magazine.

As for the media, she explained that she has learnt to deal with the scrutiny that comes with it.

“I’m not afraid of the media, although it is difficult to keep them out of my life. I’m just an ordinary human being and as people, we make mistakes and sometimes we fall, so the media reporting on me being human doesn’t bother me at all,” she explained.
