Viewers were not impressed by Sunday evening's Date My Family bachelor, Mthuthu Ndebele.
The young man, who made it clear that he doesn't really see women and men as equals, really left a bitter taste in some people's mouths. Some of his statements made it seem as if he was looking for a servant, instead of a partner. He came across as stubborn and disrespectful. He also wanted to impose his Zulu culture on his potential dates.
Viewers of the popular Mzansi Magic show took to Twitter to voice their opinions about him.
Imagine going through all that effort to prepare a meal for this schmuck! I feel bad for the families. #DateMyFamily— Boitumelo Thulo (@Boity) August 16, 2015
Another trend on #datemyfamily is that the guy contestants are super disrespectful when there are no dads/older male figures present. Sies!— Hlelo Masina (@HleloMasina) August 16, 2015
This guy is misrepresenting us #DateMyFamily— TheBoss (@LvovoSA) August 16, 2015
BREAKING NEWS: On behalf of Zulus, we would like to dissociate ourselves from Ntuthuko. We apologize for every stupid remark. #DateMyFamily— Emperor of Umlazi (@MaBlerh) August 16, 2015
The bachelor has since taken to Twitter to apologise to women, men, and the Zulu nation.
Women: After watching the show I had an introspection & I believe I need to be more considerate & respectful towards women. Pls forgive me.— Mthuthu Ndebele (@LaMthuthu) August 17, 2015
Men: I did not represent our gender correctly. We need to love, honour & respect our partners. I was wrong brothers. @Seneliso— Mthuthu Ndebele (@LaMthuthu) August 17, 2015
