DJ Arch Junior's request for a cleaner version of Phoyisa was granted by his 'uncle' DJ Maphorisa.

DJ Maphorisa helped the country start the new year with a bang thanks to his new club banger. It all began when a video by Qwesta Kufet with his rendition of 'Hamba NoMaphorisa' went viral and caught the attention of DJ Maphorisa.

'Lawd Of Hits' requested his fans retweet the video 50 000 times so he could get in studio and record the song. With the video reaching over 50K retweets on the last day of December, Maphorisa was pressured to deliver but luckily, he had Kabza De Small and Cassper Nyovest collaborate with him.

After the song was released it became an instant hit but with that, came some backlash over Cassper's verse which some have deemed too vulgar.

The young DJ Arch Jnr, also known as Oratilwe AJ Hlongwane, requested a cleaner version of the song to appeal to the younger audience. The original version of "Phoyisa" contains strong language, and makes reference to abuse and rape.

In an attempt to get the younger audience jamming to the hit single, Arch Jnr tweeted to Maphorisa and said; "Dear uncle @DjMaphorisa @casspernyovest firstly happy new year. Was jamming to phoyisa this morning, so excited to add it to my set today. Do you by any chance have phoyisa lite for your boy, because this one is 18+”

It's hard to turn down a request from the youngest DJ in Africa, and "uncle' Maphorisa went ahead and delivered a cleaner version for all young fans to enjoy

Ever since Phoyisa was released, Mzansi has been engaging in the #PhoyisaChallenge, with some nailing it and risking it all to be part of the craze!
