It is without a doubt that the Amapiano genre has taken over the music industry by storm. Who runs the genre is a debate that has been ongoing all over social media. Prince Kaybee probably gets migraines every time a person praises DJ Maphorisa for being one of the pioneers, because according to him, he isn't.

Madumane's contribution to the genre is something nobody can overlook because he and Kabza De Small have been giving us hit after hit. Under their Scoprion Kings alias, they have rocked dance floors and dominated the charts, taking over the top spots.

Whether you are a fan of the genre or not you have to acknowledge it's amazing growth and how it has become a culture of it's own.

Prince took to Twitter to ask the original pioneers of the genre to document everything about the Amapiano culture as well as it's roots. He also threw shade at Maphorisa and told those who left their own genres to join the Yanos, to take the back seat.

"The Amapiano cats should compile a Netflix special outlining the culture and its roots. And please the artists that left their genres to jump on the Amapiano wagon must not be in this, LET THE KIDS TELL THEIR STORY," he tweeted.

Phorry has been praised for his versatility. He has given us hits under the Gqom genre as well as Tribal house. Now that he is busy with Amapiano, many think he is carrying to game on his back.

In response to Prince Kaybee, Phorry said he first started doing Amapiano in 2017 without Kabza De Small. "2017 (I) dropped my first Amapiano song, and it was not with Kabza been at it. I invested my life with Amapiano almost 5 years don't come with (that) bull**it," he warned.

"Amapiano name came as a diss, don't be mad now or be frustrated cause you can't chart anymore, you didn’t see it coming. We paid attention to the streets an the culture now its paying us. THANKS SAUTA. Don't be arrogant be humble and listen to the KIDS, you getting old don't forgot,"
he clapped back.
The way things are going, gatekeeping in the genre might become a reality. Something that would probably anger Cassper Nyovest, who praised the genre for being inclusive. Unlike Hop Hop.

"The one thing I love about Amapiano is that there are no gate keepers. Ha gona bosso (There is no boss), It's either your song is hot or it's not!!!" he said.

"...there's no way you can control the Piano culture. The music doesn't live in radio or TV. It lives in people's hearts and in the street. The music does the talking."
