Enhle Mbali Maphumulo has confirmed that she was in an attempted hijacking this week. This week, it was reported that the actress and TV presenter was hospitilised after the incident happened in Hyde Park.
The mother of two took to Instagram to thank her fans and industry peers for supporting her during this difficult time. In a live video, she said: “A lot of people have been concerned. And thank you so much, all of you. Thank you so much for the kind messages, thank you so much for your support. Thank you so much for showing that you’re involved and generally care apart from following my career.”
She then confirmed the incident.“It’s absolutely true that the other day I was in an attempted hijacking, that’s as much as I’ll say about it. I do, however, wanna thank the people who are my industry peers. I have received all your messages, all your phone calls, I have my phone back today. Thank you so much for your support, it really means a lot that you care a little more about me and just what happens in the industry.”
Enhle mentioned that she has a “deep-seated concern” about the level of crime in South Africa. “And I would like for all of us to take the first step and speak to the president to somehow change the constitution.”
She said the cops she dealt with on the day and the day after the incident opened up her eyes to a “whole new way of viewing the situation and the standard of policing”.
“The police are in fear themselves as right now as they have very little power to handle all these criminals.” She also added that she’s “going really hard to find these guys”.
We’re glad that she’s fine.
