"Guys...my wife is feeling this grandfather lite version of me😜🔥💇🏾♂️👊🏾🤘🏾🐘🤩💯" he captioned his latest picture.
The star announced his temporary exit from the weekday telenovela, which was decided based on his own request to take some leave from the show. Whilst the channel didn’t expand on the reason for why he needed a break from the show, although they have confirmed that his character, Romeo, could potentially return as he was not killed off.

Hungani’s exit has been suspected to be coming for a long time which has caused rumours to circulate about why eTV wanted him off Scandal! so desperately. Many have believed that it was due to his bad behaviour on set, which has led to the production stuff being fed up with him, resulting in him being fired. The basis of the accusations has been unclear, however eTV has firmly confirmed that Hungani has NOT been fired.
In a statement from the channel today, 19 November 2020, eTV stated, “e.tv has noted with concern the circulation of misleading media reports about the reasons for Hungani Ndlovu's temporary exit from popular daily drama Scandal! The channel, together with Ochre Media, refute the claims made that Hungani was fired from the show for bad behaviour, nor had his character, Romeo been killed off. The factual reason for his temporary absence is that the actor requested to go on leave. The talented actor, mentor, and NPO activist has contributed immensely to Scandal! over the years, and e.tv wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Scandal! producers Sanele Zulu, Grace Mahlaba, and Ilse van Hemert further expressed their appreciation about Hungani's time on the show, saying - "We, as the producers of Scandal! have the highest regard for Hungani's professionalism and humility as an artist. He has always behaved with the utmost respect towards his employers and colleagues. The character of Romeo is adored by viewers and the Scandal team alike, and we would love to create stories with him for as long as possible."
The news of Hungani’s exit has shocked fans as merely three months ago, eTV lambasted a media publication for their false report about the actor leaving the show. In August 2020, the channel stated, “There’s a published article circulating around that Hungani is leaving the show. As #etvScandal, we’re disputing every allegation stated in the article. Hungani has not been fired by production. We’re happy with his excellent professionalism and work ethic.”
