Afro-pop singer Kelly Khumalo was on tenterhooks during her baby shower this weekend, because she apparently feared she might go into labour during the glitzy celebration.
According to the Sowetan, Khumalo and twenty close friends gathered at the Quatermain Hotel in Sandton on Sunday, for a Royalty-themed baby shower where the singer donned a crown and sash, and spent the day being queen.
But a nervous queen at that.
"The biggest fear was that her water would break at the baby shower," confessed a friend.
Kelly refused to be drawn on her due date though, and merely said: "It can pop any time. I am an African woman, I cannot disclose that."
The shower was organised by former 'Rhythm City' actress and celebrity chef Lucia Mthiyane, a close friend of 29-year-old Khumalo.
"We organised a shower for my friend," Mthiyane told the publication.
"People are wearing yellow because the theme is royal. We kept the whole thing dignified and there was no naughty stuff."
Merriment at the high-profile shower included the cutting of a cake shaped like the upper body of a pregnant lady wearing a yellow negligee, while the guest list included Khumalo's younger sister Zandi, and celebrities such as Feather Awards creator Thami Kotlolo and 'Boom Shaka' singer Theo Nhlengethwa.
