New Age has just reported that the Meyiwa family has banned Kelly Khumalo from attending Senzo Meyiwa’s funeral set to take place this Saturday - 1 October in uMlazi, KZN.
“The service is open to anyone who wants to come pay their last respects to Senzo, but that girl (Kelly Khumalo) is not welcome. She mustn’t even think about coming.”Samuel Meyiwa was quoted as saying.
This is quite sad considering that Kelly Khumalo shares a daughter with the now late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and Bafana Bafana captain. It would be heart-breaking if their daughter is also barred from attending her father’s funeral.
Yesterday social media platforms were abuzz after a video of Kelly Khumalo’s interview with Robert Marawa went viral after she gave a brief explanation of her latest single “Asine”. What’s even more bizarre is that Senzo was also in attendance during that interview.
“It’s a song about a woman who is accused of killing her husband, so during the court case she kept saying it’s not me, it’s not me.” She explains in the interview.
This is what we term, art imitating life.
Since the death of Senzo Kelly has felt the wrath of the public who had been speculating that she too was behind the death of her boyfriend. The public was even more furious about Kelly using the deceased car, hours after his death, citing her actions as uncultured and disrespectful to Senzo and his family.
