If you regularly turn on your radio and Ukhozi FM is playing in the mornings, you can expect to hear the signature voice of Ukhozi FM DJ Linda Sibaya, on his show VukaMzansi. This is until three weeks ago when Ukhozi bosses axed the joke-cracking Mr Magic. Twitter was abuzz with complaints from fans who vented their frustration at Linda’s sudden disappearance on air.
Last week Wednesday Sibiya held a press conference at the Durban City Hall to talk about his axing. The Isolezwa reported that Sibiya had no knowledge of the charges laid against him.
Because of his alleged unfair dismissal, Sibiya decided to fight fire with fire by bringing not only his union (The Communications Workers Union of Kwa Zulu Natal), but also his legal team to the press conference.
However, last week Isolezwe reported Ukhozi FM’s side of the story stating that Sibiya was allegedly found to be involved in a corruption deal where he received R1.8 million from retail company Edcon.
Edcon refrained from commenting on these allegations as authorities are still in the process of investigating the case. It seems that either SABC and Ukhozi FM have dipped their nose in business that does not involve them, or Sibiya is in a lot more trouble than he is letting off.
