Three months later and MetroFM award winners still haven’t been paid by the SABC, because, they’re broke… tense.

So here’s the deal...

According to Sunday World the SABC is decided to pay production companies first and cannot afford to pay MetroFm winners an outstanding total amount of R3-million. The SABC Spokesperson also says that the winners are also at fault for not signing their payment contracts on time.

Some of these unpaid artists are Mabala Noise’s Nasty C, who apparently,  who won four awards and is apparently also owed R800 000 for his live performance. Amanda Black is owed R200 000 for her two wins and R500 000 for her performance at the awards ceremony.

Some winners have even taken this matter up with the Association of Independent Record Companies to intervene.

This is quite awkward and we hope the artists receive their incentives soon.
