Minnie Dlamini shares her own struggles with depression and more.

It's not a secret that Minnie Dlamini is in a good place in her life right now. The television personality is probably planning her wedding as we write this (we hope), she has a good man by her side, a supportive family, a flourishing career and a growing fanbase.

However, things haven't always been this great for MaDlamini. The TV presenter took to Instagram on Monday to reflect on a bad time in her life. She shared a picture of herself wearing a bikini and she wrote:

"This picture reminds me of such a sad time. I was miserable, depressed, and losing weight like carbon dioxide."

Despite being in a dark place, Minnie still got up and went to work. "No amount of pain was going to stop me from achieving my goals. So I worked harder and smarter. I gave myself moments to cry and moments to fake happiness until I was finally happy again."

Minnie also revealed that she never wants to be that "skinny" again. "PS. I honestly believe we go through sh** so we can fully appreciate the good," she added.

It is unclear what Minnie was going through at the time. One thing that she went through publicly was a break-up. The media personality was dating football star Itumeleng Khune.

In an interview with True Love magazine back in 2014, Minnie admitted that the break-up hurt her.

"I won't lie, I really didn't want to talk about it, but I need to stop acting like it didn't happen. It happened and it hurt me tremendously. I am completely broken as a result. Trying to make myself believe that I'm okay is stupid," she told the publication.
