Driving under the influence is not a laughing matter so when we got wind that Moneoa was 'arrested' for this, being shocked is an understatement.
The starlet though felt that media was doing what media always does to sell papers and decided to give the world her version of what actually took place. In a series of tweets she breaks it down.
1. I do not nor have I ever tried to use my celebrity status to get ANYTHING that wasn’t offered to me originally. I’m not that kind of person.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
2. The officer did not know who I was until we arrived at the station and his colleague jokingly scoulded him for bringing me in.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
3. All of this transpired on a Friday. The night before was a Thursday and I had been in studio recording music for my upcoming album “Xhensa” until 3am in the morning. I was not “partying” as so maliciously displayed by the paper.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
4. I had ONE GLASS of red wine at home. My cousins and I were celebrating the release of “Ziphi Inkomo” and we were on our way to my boyfriends house to celebrate with more family and friends.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
I was stopped, arrested, written up and released to go home.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
I wasnt in jail.
After that, the Ziph' iNkomo singer went on to apologise to her fans, stating that she respects the responsibility that comes with her position.
Ultimately I’m not oblivious to my actions. I comprehend and respect the responsibility that comes with my position. What I did was wrong. I’m not proud of it and for that & that alone, I humbly apologize.— The Rose. (@Moneoa) March 27, 2018
Responses to her tweets ranged from angry.
People die every day, because of this and all you do is try to justify it? SMH— Brilliant Idiot (@HomeboysDiary) March 27, 2018
...to the more sympathetic.
Unganaki sthandwa sam. People will act like their books have no red pen outchea while their own lives need fixing. Not saying you were right and all that, but life happens and people need to back off with the knee-jerk finger pointing. On we go with life!— Monica 🇳🇬 (@spokenpriestess) March 27, 2018
What's your take on the matter?
