Eyewitness News reports that there has been arrests made of three men in connection to her murder. It is alleged that one of the three men that were  arrested was her colleague. The suspects are faced with charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Last week Thandeka Mdeliswa was shot at her Mpumalanga family home in Evander. She was rushed to Evander Hospital where she was stabilized, but later airlifted to Witbank, after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital. She was said to be in a stable but critical condition. Then unfortunately succumbed to her gunshot wound on Saturday morning, the 5th of September.

It is understood that her death was due to gender-based violence, however it was revealed by the police that she died defending her brother who was involved in a quarrel with the three men arrested. One of the men then took his friend's gun and shot Thandeka, fleeing the scene thereafter.

The police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi told EWN: "Police have arrested one man in Gauteng, who is believed to have pulled the trigger. Other investigations led us to two other men who handled the firearm.

"Police have charged them with unlawful possession of a firearm as well as ammunition. The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma is elated over the Ekurhuleni Metro Police that assisted the police during the arrest as well as escorting the suspects back to Mpumalanga."

The police also wish the family finds healing following this progress in her murder case and hopefully find closure.

She was a talented actress who shared the screen with some of Mzansi's best actors, like Jet Novuka, who played her on-screen husband on Ngempela on SABC 1. She also shared the  screen with fellow actresses, Khanya Mkhangisa and veteran Flo Maseba. She was best known for her role on SABC 1's soapie Ikani as Khanya Hlophe.
