Mpho Letsholonyane has spoken out about the humiliating ordeal of being racially-profiled during a shopping trip
The sports presenter was visiting a Dischem store in Dainfern when she overheard security telling each other to "keep an eye on" her.
She tweeted of the incident; "When you have 2 women with full trolleys, 1 black 1 white, both walk into a store and you hear a person in the control room tell the security on the floor to keep an eye on the black woman coz clearly she must be there will ill intensions since SHE walked in with a full trolley!
Mpho then put the retailer on blast for their obvious act of racial prejudice.
She continued; "I’m the black woman this morning at @Dischem Dainfern. The fact that there was a whole other human being who walked in with me, who didn’t raise a security flag, perhaps because of the colour of her skin, is extremely offensive to me!! What a way to start my day!! Do better guys"
Following an outcry, Dischem has since responded to Mpho's tweets;
It's not the first time a Zaleb has spoken out about experiencing racism first-hand
Bonnie Mbuli once revealed that her son was assaulted by a woman whilst riding his bike at the beach, whilst Lerato Kganyago was physically strangled by a woman who called her domestic worker the 'K-word'.
Singer Skolopad also shared that she had been on the receiving end of racial slurs whilst working as a nurse in hospital
